Field of Empathy

A character who studies the Field of Empathy opens their emotions to those around them, attuning themselves to the hidden depths of the emotional experience. Most who study this field connect to those around them on a personal level, learning the fears and desires of those around them. What a person may do with this intimate part of the people they are exposed to is up to the individual.

The most common philosophy associated with this Field involves understanding how emotions help to guide and move society, and accepting that perfection comes not within the individual, but within the group. These psychics study how society itself seems to be a living thing, growing and changing as it responds to the stimuli provided by the world, and how there are imperfections within it which can be overcome, or which may destroy society from within. The psychics of this Field devote themselves to attempting to protect and purify 'society', and thus help themselves and those around them expand and achieve perfection.

  • Action: Instant
  • Cost: 1 Essence per +1 Additional Success
  • Duration: Scene

The character can augment a specific aspect of their Social Attribute. The player chooses the aspect, such as force or personality, leadership, or raw presence. Any roll using the character’s Social Attribute in a manner consistent with this aspect gains this bonus. The character can not spend more than (Mastery) Essence.

Strong Opinion

  • Requires: Growth 4
  • Action: Free
  • Cost: 1 Essence per -1 Potency
  • Duration: Immediate

The character can reduce a Social attack's Potency by (Essence) Ranks as it affects them. This can only be done as the Social attack is applied, not after it has taken root. The character can not spend more than (Mastery) Essence.

Silver Tongue

  • Requires: Growth 7
  • Action: Full Round
  • Cost: 2 Essence per +1 Die
  • Duration: Scene

The character can augment a specific aspect of their Social Attribute. The player chooses which aspect, such as force of personality, presence, or leadership. Any roll using the character’s Social Attribute in a manner consistent with this aspect gains this bonus. The character can not spend more than (Mastery) Essence. This Discipline may be combined with Social Expertise.
